We’re thrilled to offer a space where people from all walks of life can immerse themselves in the art of pottery. Whether you're a seasoned ceramicist or just getting started, our goal is to integrate pottery into your daily life through our supportive and vibrant community.

Many pottery studios offer facilities. We offer something fundamentally different — a dedicated space for genuine, structured, ongoing learning. From your very first session to your eighth year with us as a member, the process of discovery and learning never stops.
Whether you are an experienced maker or just beginning your journey, everything we do is designed to build on what you already know, push you toward what you haven't yet tried, and celebrate how far you have come.
Through tailored assessments, guided classes and a membership model rooted in progression, we create the conditions for every student to reach their full potential — at their own pace, in their own time.
Cardiff Pottery Workshops is a Community Interest Company (CIC), which means every penny generated through our memberships, tiers, and classes is reinvested directly back into improving and expanding our educational offering. Our sole focus is the continuation and improvement of lifelong learning through our classes and membership. We ensure our studio remains an accessible, high-quality space for all. We are committed to offering pottery education at every level and for life — we are fundamentally different to any other pottery studio in the UK we don’t just offer facilities through our membership but ongoing learning through a range of monthly classes. Whether you have been with us for one hour or ten years, you are continuously learning and growing through our ever-evolving monthly classes, supported and celebrated through our yearly makers markets and Roath (East) weekend show. Over the last 10 years and especially the last two years this commitment has been clearly demonstrated through significant investment in our provision — including new wheels, kilns, a gallery area, slab roller, seating, an expanded range of glazes and clay types, and the development of our second studio in Roath. This second space has been transformative, enabling us to broaden our curriculum with classes we simply didn’t have the capacity to deliver in our main studio, such as taster sessions and in-depth masterclasses. It will also enable us to further expand with other projects we hope to develop long term. Our profits continue to fund better equipment, richer programming, and deeper community reach — including the subsidising of our ReFire programme, which provides supported pottery sessions for individuals facing mental health challenges, because we believe the therapeutic power of making should never be out of reach for those who need it most.

As a member, you gain access to our excellent facilities and can work in our studio during designated hours. You’ll join a creative community that supports and champions one another's artistic journey.
Courses and Workshops
Courses: We offer specialised courses in both Throwing and Hand Building, designed for various skill levels. These courses are perfect for someone looking to gain structured, in-depth knowledge.
Weekend Workshops: Short, intensive sessions ideal for those who want to dabble in new techniques or complete projects quickly.
Masterclasses: Learn from the best in the field through our expert-led masterclasses.

Our Journey:
Back in 2016 Cardiff Pottery workshops initially as a LTD company in 2015 with a passion for making pottery accessible to everyone in Cardiff, initially starting the pottery with 10 rolling pins and 5 tables that she packed down after each session. The bossiness changed the company to a CIC in 2016, as we firmly believed that our main aim was to support the community and develop an environment where people and their practice can flourish. By 2024 the Cardiff pottery Workshops team, has transformed Cardiff Pottery Workshops into a space that supports the local community
Inclusivity and Community Programs:
60+ Tea and Pottery: Engaging sessions for our senior community members, blending the joy of pottery with the comfort of tea.
Re Fire: These are subsidised pottery classes designed specifically for individuals dealing with depression, as a way to provide therapeutic relief through art.
Hafan Y Coed Hospital Classes: We also subsidise classes aimed at supporting mental health at Hafan Y Coed hospital.
Studio Manager James Lee and the entire team strive to maintain an atmosphere that’s as welcoming as it is creative, making everyone feel at home as soon as they walk through our doors. We’re rapidly growing and are nearly at full membership capacity, reflecting the vibrant and enthusiastic community we've built.
