Throwing and Hand-Building Classes for Kids 5+
Monday 27th May
Throwing on the wheel Parent and child, you will share a wheel with your child for 1 hour. You will be guided through trowing a bowl on the wheel. From this you will select 1 pot each to be fired. you can choose to glaze your work for an extra small fee.

3 Week Courses From May 1st 2024
Are you aged between 10 and 16 years old and interested in learning the skill of making with clay? Here at Cardiff Pottery Workshops we are so pleased to deliver a course that is specifically for 10-16 year olds, which covers a number of hand building techniques alongside throwing on the potters wheel. New starters can join our 3 week courses where you’ll be guided through the process of creating in clay.
Week 1: Handbuilding Technique
Week 2: Slip decorating
Week 3: Throwing
Sessions will be £10 per session and will last 1.5 hours from 4:30-6pm (£6.60 per hour), and will be booked in groups of 3 weeks at £30 to ensure you’re able to complete the pieces you begin on week 1. All materials and firings are included.

Further Practice
Weekly Drop In Sessions From May 1st 2024
If you’ve been coming along to our New Starter sessions for more than 12 weeks, we’d love to welcome you to our Further Practice drop-in sessions. Now that you have learnt the basic techniques that we teach, we’ll be able to help guide you in developing your practice as a young potter, working on more complex pieces, and learning to decorate your work in new ways.
There will also be space for you to develop your own projects, and join the young potters on the wheel whenever there is a New Starters throwing week planned!
Further Practice Drop-in Sessions will be £10 and can be booked weekly, or in advance. All materials and firings are included.
